The Civil War was one of Americaââ¬â¢s most brutal battles in history. Majority of which being white, male soldiers. Over the years, many historians have argued the actual involvement of blacks during the civil war era. Many claiming that they were doing nothing more than assisting the actual, white soldiers in combat such as, nurses, and wagon drivers, not actually picking up the gun and shooting alongside in battle. Most people look over the fact that almost ten percent, or 180,000, of the Union army were African American. The Importance Of Effective Decision Making - 868 Words
The Importance of Effective Decision-Making Inadequate information, data, and knowledge. For rational decision-making to be accurate, reliable, and complete, information about various aspects of the problem under investigation is necessary. Possible future trends can be estimated with the help of such information. This facilitates rational decision-making. However, adequate and reliable information may not be available at the time of decision-making. As a result, the decisions may become defective or irrational or may prove faulty in the course of time. This is how decisions become irrational. Leaderââ¬â¢s choices and actions are the result of the leaderââ¬â¢s experiences (Bennis Goldsmith, 1997). Leadership in organizations is driven by uncertainty. How leaders make decisions based on that uncertainty determines the performance of an organization (Hatch, 1997). Decisions are made on the basis of information available about various environmental variables. However, the variables are many and complex in nature. They may be related to political, economic, social, or other unknown variables. It is not possible to study all such variables in depth because of inadequate information or data. This leads to inaccuracy in decision-making. Two variables that drive uncertainty are complexity and speed of change. Balances Of Values And Academiic Freedom Of Inquir Essay Example For Students
Balances Of Values And Academiic Freedom Of Inquir Essay yBalances of Values and Academiic Freedom of InquiryDear Mr. R. Kirby Godsey,In the process of life we face many challenges and many crossroads. Wehave many choices and many decisions to make. In making these decisions we mustkeep in mind the moral values our parents have taught us since we were born. Those Christian values should guide our lives and the choices we make. Thesesame values should also guide at school as well. In our pursuit of knowledge, weshould keep these values in mind. In our never-ending road of learning, we are granted with many academicfreedoms. We have the freedom to question and try to learn new ideas. We alsohave the freedom to disagree with the material presented to us. We can disagreeand voice our opinions, but in an orderly fashion. In exercising those freedoms, we should do so with maturity andresponsibility. As students, we are responsible for learning all the content ofany course we study. We are free to take exception to the views or informationpresented to us, and we are free to reserve judgment about matters of opinions. Sometimes, in our quest for knowledge, there becomes a conflict betweenour beliefs we are accustomed to and the material presented to us. When there isa difference, we should not ignore the idea or block it out. We should feel freeto learn and question new ideas. Just because we learn something doesnt mean wehave to accept it. We should leave ourselves open to new ideas. When we do thiswe become very well rounded individuals. An example of this is the issue involving the debate between evolutionand creationism. As Christians, we naturally believe in creationism, but weshouldnt stop learning about evolution because we dont believe in it. Thismakes us very close minded. We shouldnt stop learning about a subject justbecause we dont believe in it. One of our freedoms is the academic freedom ofinquiry. This means we have freedom to question. We have the freedom to learn. We can still search for more answers, and we can learn different theories andstill keep our beliefs. The trick in doing this is to balance all of this. Wemust be able to keep our beliefs and new ideas presented separated. We must beable to draw a line between what you learn and what you believe. In doing thiswe become open minded individuals. I believe if we can balance our values and our academic freedom ofinquiry we have reached a whole new level of learning. Not many people can dothis. It is hard to want to learn material presented to us that you dontparticularly care for or believe in. When we learn to do this we are open to awhole new world of possibilities. I feel I have learned how to keep my morals and beliefs, whilecontinuing my search for new ideas and information. I feel I have learned tobalance these. I have found the line between the two , and I know when too faris too far. Since Mercer is a place where I can feel free to open myself to newdoors and express my beliefs, I feel I would blend into the Mercer environmentvery well. I am open to new ideas and want to learn. I want to get the besteducation I can get and Mercer is the place where I can get it. I am willing tolearn as much as I can, whether it is spiritually, academically, orintellectually. .uc94a24bbf20afc1568521bd393ddcac2 , .uc94a24bbf20afc1568521bd393ddcac2 .postImageUrl , .uc94a24bbf20afc1568521bd393ddcac2 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .uc94a24bbf20afc1568521bd393ddcac2 , .uc94a24bbf20afc1568521bd393ddcac2:hover , .uc94a24bbf20afc1568521bd393ddcac2:visited , .uc94a24bbf20afc1568521bd393ddcac2:active { border:0!important; } .uc94a24bbf20afc1568521bd393ddcac2 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .uc94a24bbf20afc1568521bd393ddcac2 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .uc94a24bbf20afc1568521bd393ddcac2:active , .uc94a24bbf20afc1568521bd393ddcac2:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .uc94a24bbf20afc1568521bd393ddcac2 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .uc94a24bbf20afc1568521bd393ddcac2 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .uc94a24bbf20afc1568521bd393ddcac2 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .uc94a24bbf20afc1568521bd393ddcac2 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .uc94a24bbf20afc1568521bd393ddcac2:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .uc94a24bbf20afc1568521bd393ddcac2 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .uc94a24bbf20afc1568521bd393ddcac2 .uc94a24bbf20afc1568521bd393ddcac2-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .uc94a24bbf20afc1568521bd393ddcac2:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Rizal's Life Reaction Paper EssaySincerely,XXXXXXXXX

A Review of Christopher R. Brownings Ordinary Men free essay sample
This review of Christopher R. Brownings `Ordinary Men` examines the Nazi soldiers psyche during the holocaust. This paper reviews Christopher R. Brownings `Ordinary Men,` and its analysis of Nazi soldiers that murdered innocent civilians in the holocaust. The paper shows the methods used by the soldiers to rationalize their actions even though many of them were morally opposed to what they were ordered to do. From the paper: `It is understandably commonplace to refer to Hitler as a monster, as inhuman. It is also, by extension, equally commonplace to refer to the Nazis who obeyed him as monsters as well. Yet before the implementation of the madness that was the `Final Solution` in Germany and Eastern Europe, these Nazi soldiers were human beings like ourselves, individuals who lived in a world only a half-century or so before ours. They made ethical decisions on a day-to-day basis. They were ordinary men, according to Christopher R. We will write a custom essay sample on A Review of Christopher R. The Solitude of Prime Numbers Review Paper Essay on The Solitude of Prime Numbers Strange and scary book about loneliness among men. It caused me a different feeling, a whole gamut: bewilderment, horror, sympathy, fear in anticipation of what the next minute can make the characters, in some moments of dislike for him. All exacerbated by a calm, somewhat aloof, cold as a razor blade, narrative, like a statement of fact:. So there Loneliness fills the entire space of the novel, it felt almost physically. It covers absolutely still young, enters their consciousness, disfiguring it and does not let go until the last minute. Amazingly, in the novel there is no happy man: unhappy heroes, hardly happy with their parents, even the star of the Lyceum Viola, leader of svolochnoy Four, and that malice from his loneliness. The only hero, Fabio, the personification of calm, reliable and clear certainty, always smiling, getting into the vicious circle of loneliness, becomes miserable neurotic. Highly developed intellect becomes the protagonist of his peculiar barrier against the outside world, but it is and prevent him to open his heart to the people close to him, even when he needs it. But if Mattia I can understand, then Alice I often do not understand at all. At first glance, it seems that the hero more brutal and determined, but he and the author does not give any chance to live a different life. Alice also administers its own hands their fate. She refuses all that would take her out of his stupor: the profession, which could well become even substitute feelings of a man who loves her, the very idea of ââ¬â¹Ã¢â¬â¹the capacity of womens happiness. And Im not sure what the cause is love. It seemed to me that in the novel generally very little about love, and therefore, perhaps, so much of loneliness. To the heroes I had an ambiguous attitude. They are, of course, very sorry, but it is a pity that a pity, a pity crippled, dying patients. Personally, I do not cause any more sense. Yes, their life was not originally developed. Here you can blame fate, parents, the case. But at the same time it was given to them, and a great deal: the mind, the talent, the will (though they used it in different ways). And the fact that they met the same can not be dismissed. They have not made any movement in the direction of his happiness. read the novel, and I can not get rid of some inner stupor. Controlling Heart Failure Due to Medical Conditions
Controlling Heart Failure Due to Medical ConditionsCoping with congestive heart failure due to medical conditions can be quite difficult especially if the patient is not able to communicate in a normal manner. In order to communicate adequately, a sample essay should be studied and practised in order to be as easy as possible.Patients suffering from congestive heart failure may be found to have either a straight line or a curved line of a heart arrhythmia on a graph. With the straight line heart arrhythmia, cardiac arrhythmia is expected for atrial fibrillation. In case of the curved line heart arrhythmia, the patient may have shown symptoms of ventricular tachycardia at least once before.Patients having either type of irregular heart arrhythmia have to first assess whether it is atrial fibrillation or ventricular tachycardia that is causing problems in their cardiovascular system. To diagnose this first, a test called an electrocardiogram or ECG is needed. It helps to know more abou t the symptom or complication which is causing the medical condition. However, many people, who do not really understand what it means, think that heart arrhythmia can be identified by just reading a medical-looking test. The truth is that the ECG test does not help patients get rid of their symptoms. For this reason, an expert needs to be consulted before the procedure is carried out.To distinguish between a heart arrhythmia and ventricular tachycardia, patients with cardiac arrhythmia have to undergo further tests. They will have to undergo amiodarone infusion, or a continuous ECG monitor, or a blood test, which can measure the amount of oxygenated blood in the bloodstream. When the body's blood supply is compromised, some level of oxygen deficiency is always present in the body's circulation.A treatment consisting of intravenous contrast medium can be used to treat the more serious arterial insufficiency that causes the irregular heart rhythm. If the irregularity is due to a heart arrhythmia, these methods can be used as a second line treatment.Another frequent causes of arrhythmia are pulmonary embolisms and pulmonary hypertension. Patients who have either of these conditions may not be able to be treated with conventional methods. Instead, they will be required to undergo a procedure known as pulmonary bypass.A surgery that requires a patient to be admitted to hospital is known as chest wall reconstruction. The main aim of this procedure is to restore the strength of the chest wall. This may help patients who suffer from severe problems with the upper body like reduced muscle control.

buy custom Welfare State in Britain essay
buy custom Welfare State in Britain essay The history of the welfare state in Britain began around 1940-1950 and this period marked a point in their history. Professor Jeremy Black (2011) recorded in BBC that Britain [during the period] quickly relinquished its status as the world's largest imperial power. Poor Law (1834) The British Prime Minister, Earl Grey, set up the Poor Law in 1833. The law stated that no able-bodied person was to receive money or other help from the Poor Law authorities except in a workhouse (Spartacus International). And in the workhouses, the poor had to work hard in return for the care they received (The National Archives). The law was abolished later in 1948 due to the abuses that occurred (Owston, 2009). The development of the Poor Law as part of the welfare state of Britain became significant to their history because it has altered and made a great impact regarding the social improvement of the country. The Liberal Reforms (1906-1914) As recorded in BBC, the Liberal government in 1906-1914, reforme the welfare services in the country. Public Health Act (1848-1875) The Public Health Act of 1875 compelled that local authorities secure sewage disposal, adequate water supply and drainage. Removal of burials, nuisances, notification of infectious diseases, and destruction of contaminated food were regulated. For the first time this Act ensured an effective system of public health throughout the country. It has been described as the single most important Act of Parliament of the century (Scaife, 2004, p. 38). This development in the history of Britain became significant parrticularly to the health of the people. It built health awareness to everyone. The Labour Party (1945-1951) The Labour party, led by Clement Atlee, came to power in 1945 and continued to make reforms until 1951. The reforms included an enlarged system of social services which included the nationalization of major industries and public utilities and the establishment of the National Health Service (Wikipedia). These changes made significance to the British Welfare State since they made a great impact in its development. Beveridge Report William Beveridge published his report in 1942 and recommended that the government should find ways of fighting the five Giant Evils of Want, Disease, Ignorance, Squalor and Idleness (William Beveridge). His report influenced the prime minister Clement Atlee who established the National Health Service in 1948 and a national system of benefits to provide social security.
